The welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation was chaired by Captain Muhammed Taufik, Second-in-Command in Operation of Surabaya Naval Base and attended by Senior Colonel Nguyen Tuan Duc, Vietnamese defense attaché to Indonesia.
Captain Muhammed Taufik welcomed Captain Giang and the Vietnamese delegation to Surabaya and hoped that the Vietnamese guests would have good impressions of the country, people, military and navy of Indonesia.
Expressing thanks for the solemn welcome of the Indonesian Navy and Captain Muhammed Taufik himself, Captain. Giang informed that during the visit to Indonesia, the delegation would made courtesy calls on leaders of Surabaya city, the Second Fleet Command of the Indonesian Navy, Surabaya Naval Base and Indonesian Naval Academy. In addition, it would visit the Bima Suci, a sail training ship, and have football and volleyball matches with cadets of the Indonesian Naval Academy.
The Vietnamese naval officer confirmed that this visit and exchange would help strengthen the friendship, cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the military and navy of Vietnam and their Indonesian counterparts.
After the welcome ceremony, Captain Muhammed Taufik led a delegation of the Indonesian Navy to visit Sailing Vessel 286 – Le Quy Don.
On the nearly 1,300 nautical miles voyage from Vietnam’s Nha Trang military port to Indonesia’s Surabaya port, the Vietnamese delegation conducted a sea training session for senior cadets of the Naval Academy, and organized several cultural, artistic and expertise exchanges for those on board of the sailing vessel.
* The same day, on the afternoon, the Vietnamese delegation, led by Captain Giang, visited Deputy Mayor of Surabaya city Wakil Wali Kota, Commander of the Second Fleet Command of the Indonesian Navy Rear Admiral Arianto Condrowibowo, and Commanding Officer of Surabaya-based Naval Base No.5 Brigadier Joni Sulistiawan.
During these meetings, Captain Giang said that the Vietnamese delegation was solemnly welcomed by the Indonesian Navy and received warm sentiments from local people. He said that Surabaya is truly one of the big economic centers of beautiful Indonesia.
On July 18, the Vietnamese delegation visited the Indonesian Naval Academy and had football and volleyball exchanges with the school’s cadets, visited the Bima Suci, and hosted a party on Sailing Vessel 286 – Le Quy Don.
