Musicians often say they’re dedicated to their fans, but One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson just took this to another level.
While dutifully signing fan autographs at his Faith In The Future World Tour show in Jakarta, the Perfect hitmaker, 32, scribbled his signature on an Indonesian marriage certificate.
We would say it was accidental, but according to the fan – whose friends bagged the unique autograph opportunity for her – he asked, ‘Is it legit?’ before saying: ‘Okay I’ll sign it.’
It doesn’t end there. After signing on the dotted line, when asked whether he was staying in Jakarta, Louis was said to have replied: ‘If my wife wants me to.’
Taking to TikTok to tell the bizarre story, user @ladycryalot held up the document, which does seem to mimic the real deal with pictures of her and Louis, and said: ‘So I just got back from Faith In The Future Jakarta, and I lost my voice because I was having so much fun.
‘I went there as a single woman, right. I don’t have any boyfriend, I don’t have any fiancé, but I got back from there as a married woman, because he signed a marriage certificate of me and him.
‘I’m a married woman. I am married to Louis Tomlinson. I am his lawfully wedded wife.
‘I didn’t go to the meet and greet but my friend did, and my friend asked him, “Are you going to go back to Jakarta?” And he answered, “If my wife wants to,” after he signed this,’ she explained.
‘After he signed this he said, “If my wife wants to,” she reiterated, hardly believing it herself.
‘IF MY WIFE WANTS TO,’ she repeated, before adding: ‘I’m. His. Wife. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Because I can’t.’
But before we get too over excited, marriage legally requires a ceremony in Indonesia for a union to be recognised in the law. It’s not real, folks. Take a deep breath.
Oh Louis, that’s what makes him beautiful.
Outside of fan chaos, Louis’ dating and relationship antics remain somewhat of a mystery, as he likes to keep his personal life private.
In October last year, Louis appeared to hit out at a baseless long-running fan theory he and former bandmate Harry Styles were once in a relationship.
In a Twitter Q&A with fans Louis was asked what looked to be an innocent question, but anyone familiar with the ins and outs of the theory would know is loaded with meaning.
‘Louis how do you make chicken parmesan?’ the fan asked, as Larries – those supporting the false theory – are convinced it was Lous and Harry’s first date meal.
Seemingly aware of the in-joke, Louis wrote back to the cheeky fan: ‘You start by realising all these ridiculous childish theories and conspiracies are wasted time and energy and then just throw the chicken in the oven to be fair.’
He added: ‘Simple stuff.’
The singer also previously told The Sun the baseless theories ‘felt a little bit disrespectful’ to his then-girlfriend Eleanor Calder, and even went as far as to sayit put distance between him and Harry by ‘created this atmosphere between the two of us where everyone was looking into everything we did.’
Louis and Eleanor were together on and off for years, first dating in 2011 and breaking up and rekindling multiple times before appearing to call it quits for good in January 2023.
