Senior actress Christine Hakim said that the late BRA Mooryati Soedibyo, through her traditional herbal medicine and cosmetics business at Mustika Ratu, played a major role in forming, maintaining and promoting typical Indonesian beauty. Beauty is not only something that appears from the outside.
“That is what we must understand, respect, and preserve. We should not replace the values of Indonesian women’s beauty with external values that only focus on outer perfection. The values of Indonesian women’s beauty also come from within, radiating an aura of beauty and grace,” said Christine after paying respects at the mourning house, which was also the late’s personal residence on Jalan Mangunsarkoro, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (24/4/2024) afternoon.
Christine continued by saying that Mooryati has proven her strength through her hard work since a young age. “She is a resilient woman who has been living since before the independence era in a time of limited resources, with a vision and mission to advance and uplift the dignity of Indonesian women by founding Mustika Ratu,” she said.

Christine has known Mooryati for a long time, but they only interacted intensely when they were together in the film project Sultan Agung: Throne, Struggle and Love (2018). Christine is one of the actors, while Mooryati is one of the producers. During the making of the film, Christine got another impression about Mooryati’s personality. He is still so inspiring in his old age.
“At that time, he was 90 years old, but he not only held the title of producer. He was very active in providing input to Hanung Bramantyo as the director. He also rigorously maintained the motives and colors of the clothing that Sultan Agung had to wear in every moment,” said Christine.
This senior actress added that Ibu Mooryati’s involvement in the political world also shows her as a person who successfully fulfills the trust that God has given her. According to her, not everyone has the strength and faith to fight for the vision and mission they hold.
“They have successfully played the role of a mother and caretaker of God, leaving a beneficial legacy not only for their family and women but also for the nation. They have also maintained their integrity, commitment, and consistency until now,” said Christine.
Military release
Mooryati Soedibyo passed away at the age of 96 on Wednesday (24/4/2024), around 1:00 am WIB, at MMC Hospital in South Jakarta, due to complications from her old age. One of Mooryati Soedibyo’s children, Putri Kus Wisnu Wardani, said that her mother had rarely met people since the Covid-19 pandemic. This decision was made according to the doctor’s advice because her mother’s condition was getting weaker.
“If he catches a slight cold, it’s troublesome because he needs to be treated and such. We love him dearly and enjoyed a small family with him in the last three or four years of his life,” said Putri in Jakarta.
Putri continued, Ibu Mooryati’s condition has been declining due to various infections. Moreover, her advanced age has made her weaker. At least, Putri continued, her mother is enjoying her old age after completing all her duties and responsibilities. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have also grown up.
“After becoming the Vice Chairman of the MPR, he no longer holds a position at Mustika Ratu. He devoted himself to the world of education and shared what he has gone through in the fields of business, beauty, and women,” said Putri.
