Miss World Peru 2024 Finalists Show off Indonesian Batik


ASIATODAY.ID, LIMA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Lima, Peru have just successfully held the first Indonesian Cultural Festival in the capital city of Lima on Sunday, September 8 2024.

This cultural festival was also attended by Miss World Peru 2023 and the finalists of Miss World Peru 2024.

The twenty Miss World Peru finalists who attended wore Seno Kelir Batik shawls, which were produced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises from Pekalongan, Central Java.

“Through this event, Indonesian batik products have become the attention of the world, especially people in the Latin American region,” said the Director General for America and Europe, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Hadi.

The presence of the Miss World Peru finalists is a special attraction for visitors to the Indonesian Cultural Festival. This is the first time they as Miss World Peru finalists have worn batik attributes.

On this occasion, one of the Miss World Peru finalists, Arianna Santoyo expressed her appreciation for the invitation to attend the Indonesian Festival and wear batik cloth which is one of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

“I like the batik motif that I wear. The colors and motifs are very beautiful.” he said.

All Miss World Peru finalists who attended the Indonesian Cultural Festival in Peru’s capital said they were very happy to be invited to this special event.

“Indonesian culture must be acknowledged to be very diverse and amazing. Today I gained a lot of knowledge about regional dances and traditional songs from Indonesia,” said Valentina, Miss World Peru finalist from Paracas.

Miss World Peru finalist from Lima, Diana Campos and Miss World Peru finalist from the city of La Libertad, Karen Valdivieso, for example, showed off photos and videos of themselves wearing batik shawls, including when they appeared on the festival stage with dancers from Indonesia.

The Indonesian Cultural Festival which was held in Kennedy Park or Parque Kennedy, downtown Lima, was a preliminary activity ahead of the 6th Indonesia-Latin America and the Caribbean (INA-LAC) Business Forum which will be held on 11-13 September 2024 in Lima , Peru.

The INA-LAC Business Forum is a business forum initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the flow of two-way trade and investment cooperation between Indonesia and countries in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. (AT Network)
