An influencer has divided opinion after admitting she shaves her baby’s head.
Ruby Tuesday Matthews, from Byron Bay, Australia, shared a ‘mum fail’ on Instagram, explaining that she had shaved her baby’s head ahead of a Christmas photo shoot.

“I got two hours sleep last night. Working whilst having three kids home isn’t a vibe.
“Silly me shaved Holiday’s head and yep forgot we have Santa photos tomorrow. So that’s one for the memory books. Oh and it’s patchy.”
While there are clearly countless mothers who could empathise with the difficulty of trying to balance work with parenting, a lot of mums couldn’t relate to the ‘mum fail’ of shaving their baby’s head prior to a photo shoot.
After being inundated with messages from baffled mums, the 27-year-old wrote: “Lol everyone is losing it that I have shaved Holiday’s head.
“I’ve actually shaved all my children’s heads at about four months.
“My kids are born with dark hair that slowly falls out and ends up looking crazy patchy and the new hair holds off growing.
“I find shaving it makes it grow faster, thicker and so much more even.”
So there you go, apparently the beauty regimen should get under way within your first three months on Earth.
She went on to explain that the method was shared by ‘a lot of cultures for tradition and some for looks’.
Matthews added: “My auntie who is Indonesian told me about it.”
“It’s crazy, I can already see her tiny blonde hairs coming in now her baby fluff is gone.”
While this method clearly wasn’t shared by many mothers, there were plenty who came forward as fellow baby-shavers.
Sharing a collection of screengrabs from her DMs, Ruby wrote: “So turns out a lot of you have done the same.”
One message read: “I did this my daughter for the same reason and it works amazingly.
“Does look absolutely horrible for a few weeks but well worth it.”
Another chimed in with: “I did this too and everyone lost their mind. But I’m a hairdresser and it actually works.”
