Indonesian Visual Novel “The Sun Shines Over Us” Is Now Available on Steam

Previously, Niji Games and Eternal Dream Studio published their visual novel The Sun Shines Over Us (Indonesian Title: Menggapai Matahari) on 7 October 2021 via Google Play Store. After its mobile release, the game is finally released on Steam on 26 September 2024.

The Sun Shines Over Us is a visual novel that raises the issue of mental health and bullying at school. It focuses on Mentari, a victim of bullying who suffers from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and has to move school. In the new school, Mentari meets other unique teenage characters with their own personal problems. They all have different responses related to Mentari’s mental condition. Other mental health issues are also depicted in the game, such as ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), eating disorders, the impact of broken homes, and many others.

In the game, players will be faced with various choices that will alter the course of the story. Those choices will affect the story and the other characters. They will also affect Mentari’s mental recovery and her relationships with others.

13 characters with their own uniqueness can be explored through various choices. With over 100,000 words of content and six different endings, every choice in The Sun Shines Over Us will impact the player and can provide a different story experience if they choose a different option.

The Sun Shines Over Us also provides more than 40 CG events, 25 beautiful background images, character animations, and 10 pieces of background music that will accompany players in their journey to reveal the story of Mentari.
