VIVA – The Indonesian boxing team is ready to fight in the World Boxing Tour Golden Belt Series in Morocco from January 31 to February 11, 2023. This match is one of the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), Raja Sapta Oktohari also released the Indonesian boxers to Morocco. Okto, he called, in a press release on Monday, provided motivation and hoped that the team will show their best abilities to appear at the Paris Olympics, soon.
“With the enthusiasm of our athletes, boxing should not be half-hearted in the DBON target. Boxing must enter DBON. Boxing must prove itself in the Olympic qualifications. I am sure, if you can perform at the Olympics, let alone get a medal, I am sure boxing will enter DBON,” Okto said.
The Central Board of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (PB Pertina) sends seven boxers to Morocco, two women namely Israellah B Saweho (48 kg) and Huswatun Khasanah (63 kg). The other five are male boxers, namely Ingatan Illahi (51 kg), Asri Udin (57 kg), Farand Papendang (63.5 kg), Sarohatua L (71 kg), and Mikhael Muskita (86 kg).
They will be accompanied by coaches Barbaro Fernandes and Daman Hutauruk and Puspa with Manager Hengky Silatang. The Indonesian team will leave for Morocco tonight and will only compete on February 2.
There are 33 countries confirmed to compete in this tournament. Apart from Indonesia, there are also Morocco, Spain, Algeria, Russia, Cuba, and Taiwan. They will compete to be the best for the 13 men’s and 13 women’s classes.
