Indonesia triumphs, Vietnam’s Lydie Vu falls short


The grand finale of Miss Supranational 2024 took place in Nowy Sącz, Poland, featuring contestants from 68 countries. Harashta Haifa Zahra of Indonesia was crowned the winner, while Jenna Dykstra from the USA and Justýna Zedníková from the Czech Republic secured the first and second runner-up positions. Unfortunately, Vietnam’s representative, Lydie Vu, did not make it to the top 25.

Harashta Haifa Zahra, the newly crowned Miss Supranational, is 20 years old, standing 1.7 meters tall with measurements of 85-65-90 cm. She is currently studying Environmental Engineering at the Bandung Institute of Technology. With her sweet, fresh beauty and eloquent communication skills, Zahra captivated both the judges and the audience.

This marks the first time an Indonesian representative has won the Miss Supranational title. Vietnam’s Lydie Vu, despite her strong presence throughout the competition, did not make it into the top 25, leaving fans disappointed.

Special awards were given to contestants from South Africa (Bryoni Govender), Curacao (Chanelle de Lau), Slovakia (Petra Sivakova), and Myanmar (Myo Sandar Win) for Contestants’ Choice, Supra Chat, Supra Model, and Supra Influence, respectively.

These winners, along with other contestants from countries like the Czech Republic, Honduras, India, USA, Aruba, Japan, Romania, Germany, Nigeria, Iceland, Mexico, UK, Puerto Rico, Indonesia, Peru, Denmark, Thailand, Bolivia, Philippines, and Finland, made it to the top 24. Brazil secured the final spot in the top 25 due to a tie in scores.

Despite her strong showing, Lydie Vu did not advance to the top 25, joining other strong contenders like representatives from Spain, the Dominican Republic, Laos, and Venezuela in missing the cut. The host country’s representative from Poland, Angelika Jurkowianiec, also did not advance, ending a 14-year streak of the host country making it to the top.

The top 25 contestants moved on to the swimsuit competition, earning enthusiastic cheers from the audience. The contestants donned two-piece bikinis with long flowing fabric, confidently showcasing their fit physiques. Standout performances came from Curacao, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Thailand, and Mexico.

Following the swimsuit segment, Denmark was announced as the Fan Favorite and secured the first spot in the top 12. The remaining top 12 contestants were from the USA, India, Finland, Thailand, Brazil, Curacao, the Czech Republic, Puerto Rico, Indonesia, Philippines, and South Africa.

These top 12 contestants further impressed in a quick-response Q&A session, confidently answering questions posed by the MC.

Each contestant had 20 seconds to respond to the question. Next, they dazzled in the evening gown segment, presenting themselves elegantly in finely crafted dresses under soft lighting and gentle music, showcasing their sophisticated beauty.

After the critical swimsuit and evening gown segments, the top 5 finalists were announced: representatives from the USA, Brazil, Indonesia, the Czech Republic, and Curacao. The finalists faced one last challenge – an interview segment where they shared personal stories inspired by their childhood photos, aiming to inspire the audience and judges.

The finalists delivered heartfelt and articulate responses. Notably, Brazil’s Isadora Murta was moved to tears during her speech.

The top 5 comprised representatives from Brazil, the Czech Republic, Curacao, Indonesia, and the USA. Each finalist provided touching and fluent answers, making the final decision highly competitive.

As a judge, Miss Supranational 2022’s second runner-up, Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen, donned a stunning gold gown adorned with intricate embellishments and daring cut-outs that highlighted her figure.

Ahead of the Miss Supranational 2024 finals, Kim Duyen emphasized that the judges were looking for more than just physical beauty; they sought a confident individual who could positively influence their community.

“A true beauty queen reflects inner radiance that shines through her demeanor. She can leverage her influence to convey talent and wisdom to the community,” Kim Duyen shared.
