The second day of the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2022 was closed with a gala dinner supported by Shopee Indonesia.
Not only enjoying dinner, the WCCE delegates and guests were also treated to various Indonesian creative economy products, especially fashion products.
The treats included a fashion show from Global Muslim Fashion Week that showcased a series of collections from several Indonesian brands.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, at the 2022 WCCE Gala Dinner said that the modest fashion presented was not just ordinary modest fashion. But fashion that combines creativity with cultural root and motifs typical of Indonesia.
“It is manifested into not a product that is not only appropriate, but also valuable and beautiful,” according to Minister Sandiaga Uno at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC), Nusa Nua, Badung Regency, Thursday (6/10/2022).
In addition to the fashion show from Global Muslim Fashion Week, the delegates were also presented with the beauty of Pamekasan Batik. As is known, the batik motif originating from Madura Island in East Java has bold accents and details that distinguish it from other batik motifs.
“Pamekasan Regency has brought their team and beautiful art works, and thank you very much for showcasing them tonight,” he added.
It did not stop there, the 2022 WCCE Gala Dinner also presented musical performances from the Balinese musician, Balawan.
“Hopefully, everyone who attend here can enjoy our treats after a full day of conferences to present the ‘Bali Creative Economy Roadmap,” he continued.
Previously, Minister Sandiaga explained that the Bali Roadmap is a document agreed upon by the WCCE delegates as a road map for economic revival, in which the creative economy sector becomes the backbone of global economic revival.
The Bali Roadmap contains several points, namely how to mainstream the creative economy in the world economy including the transformation from l informal business actors to formal business. Then, there are points related to access to financing that pave the way for creative economy actors to obtain wider access to financing.
There are also marketing points related to the efforts of creative economy actors to be able to adapt to using digital in terms of marketing. And the most important point in the field of the creative economy is intellectual property (IP), in which intellectual property protection can be used to advance and become access to financing for creative economy actors.
Sandiaga expects that the Bali Roadmap will become a document that will be adopted and contribute to policies regarding the creative economy around the world.
On the same occasion, Executive Director of Shopee Indonesia, Handhika Jahja, also opened a series of events. In his remarks, he told how all parties must be actively involved in the recovery of the creative economy industry. “By optimizing their respective roles in every sector, I believe that we can create a more advanced digital economy; a synergistic and inclusive ecosystem to accelerate recovery,” Handika explained.
He also elaborated the role of e-commerce platforms in creating a resilient industry. “The shift in people’s trends in utilizing digital technology during the pandemic, is eventually able to open up great opportunities for creative economy actors to revive and advance to reach foreign markets. Millions of people in Indonesia have succeeded in developing digital businesses and earning income by selling online via Shopee.”
He also announced the addition of three new export destinations for local MSMEs, namely Colombia, Chile, and Taiwan. Until this year, hundreds of thousands of local MSMEs have participated in Shopee’s export program, which is now a total of ten destinations.
Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo when opening the 2022 WCCE believed that the creative economy in Indonesia and many other countries in the world will be the backbone of the economy in the future that is getting stronger and is considered as an inclusive economic force. The development of the creative economy must continue to be driven so that it becomes a futuristic sector that grows faster, greater, and more advanced.
“The creative economy can be a solution to improve the people’s way of life broadly and sustainably, because it is able to break down the geographical boundaries of gender, race, economic strata. The creative economy is capable of becoming the main pillar to break inclusive economic growth, economic growth for all,” President Jokowi said.
Indonesia, according to the President, will take a leading role in developing an inclusive creative economy ecosystem, encouraging a greater role for the creative economy in global economic recovery.
Also attending the 2022 WCCE Gala Dinner were the Vice Governor of Bali, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati; Founding Ambassador of the Global Modest Fashion Week Association, Nur Asia Uno; as well as echelon I and II officials within the MOTCE.
