Bali, Indonesia, is one of the most famous tropic islands in the world and one which sits among the many top places for people to visit. However, sitting off Bali’s south eastern coast are two islands, Lembongan Island and Nusa Ceningan, which also pose massive intrigue for visitors.
As well as the islands themselves attracting tourists, what connects these two is also of great importance. Specifically, the famous Yellow Bridge spans the small gap between the two of them that has become famous because of its striking aesthetics.
According to Bali Golden Tour, the bridge itself measures around 1.5metres in width and is just over 100 metres long.
The bridge is relatively young and was constructed in late 2016 and was originally made out of wood. However, when the first version of the bridge was destroyed the decision was made to rebuild it out of iron.
The reason why the bridge is painted is to protect the iron from the ravages of saltwater over time and prevent it from developing a rusted surface.
It is not known exactly why the colour yellow was chosen, but the ramifications of this colourful choice transformed it into a tourist attraction.
So many tourists have now visited the small but famous bridge that it has developed a following on TripAdvisor where visitors have commented on the bridge’s looks and practicality.
Evilia D wrote: “Very cool place to see especially at sunset. Two scooters can only just pass on this bridge so be careful. Located in Nusa Lembongan…One of the popular spots for local tourists. I enjoyed the walk, but nothing special. [SIC]”
Fellow user DStacey commented: “Your options are walk across, drive a motorbike, or be driven on a motorbike. Definitely a must-do if you are on Nusa Lembongan.
“Once you cross over go right up to the point sit at the café and just watch the perfect 3m waves just roll in. Mesmerising. Blue Lagoon is a little bit further.”
A third visitor, MT, added: “This is super fun. you can ride over it with your scooter. The wind between these Islands was strong so hold your hat. You get a gorgeous view of the water, the seaweed farms, and the boats. I loved it.”
