Lawmaker pushes stricter licenses for Indonesias beauty clinics

Jakarta (ANTARA) – House member Kris Dayanti urged the government to tighten the issuance of licenses for beauty clinics operating in Indonesia.

“In addition to tightening regulations and licensing requirements, it is essential to implement certification and continuous training programs for medical personnel in the beauty sector to ensure service quality,” Dayanti noted in a statement here on Wednesday.

According to the House member, these steps are crucial to providing customers with a sense of safety, security, and comfort at beauty clinics.

She made this statement in response to the death of a celebrity Instagrammer following liposuction at a beauty clinic in Depok, West Java.

Dayanti also called for a thorough investigation into the case.

“I am deeply concerned and saddened by this news. May the deceased rest in peace. We urge a thorough investigation into this case,” she stated.

Moreover, she emphasized the importance of transparency in managing information regarding beauty clinics’ license status, inspection results, and violation records.

She said those records must be publicized so the public can choose trusted clinics.

“Such a way can reduce the risks of being deceived by substandard clinics,” she stated.

Furthermore, she advised the public to choose a beauty clinic carefully.

“Taking care of yourself to look beautiful is important and it is the right of all women, but you have to be careful in choosing the beauty clinic and the treatment that will be done,” she remarked.

She urged people to do detailed research on the beauty clinic or health facility and the safety of beauty treatments they are considering.

“Check the clinic’s license and be brave to ask questions to the doctor about the treatment. This can prevent us from malpractices and wrongdoings of the clinic,” she emphasized.
