Indonesian travelers keen on trips to Vietnam

According to the statistics, Indonesian tourists’ expenditure on international products, ranging from flight tickets and hotels to attractions, doubled in 2023 compared to 2022.

Iko Putera, transport CEO of Traveloka, shared that both Singapore and Japan were most popular among Indonesians, although Vietnam has since shown itself to be a strong contender.

The website quoted Putera as saying that this can be attributed to the attractive tourist spots of Sa Pa and Da Nang which have gone viral on social media.

The CEO added that the country’s affordability was also a key factor, especially as airfares and hotel rates prove to be more affordable compared to other destinations throughout Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, Yento Chen, CEO of Destination Tour Indonesia, revealed that Vietnam draws Indonesian travelers through its diverse offerings from beautiful landscapes to diverse culture and delicious foods, as well as not having the need to travel long distances.

According to Chen, tours to Sa Pa and Phu Quoc have drawn a number of Indonesian travelers, especially for winter breaks, thanks to their experiential travel offerings.

Angelina Samudera, a representative of G-Tour, said that the five-day tour package to Sa Pa is the most popular at the company with most bookings being made between December and February during the snow season.

She revealed that G-Tour witnessed a 20% to 30% rise in bookings for Vietnam in 2023. Angelina therefore expressed hope that the company will continue to nurture growth by creating attractive packages combining locations such as Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, and Sa Pa.

She also announced that the company will target young travelers seeking adventure by developing new packages to Da Nang and its surrounding areas.
