Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy head of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the House of Representatives (DPR), Putu Supadma Rudana, supported the strengthening of cooperation between Indonesia and Chile in various fields, including increasing the trade value.

Rudana, in a statement received here on Monday, noted that Indonesia and Chile have established cooperation in various fields, including the economy.

He commended the two countries that already have a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which was signed in 2017 and has taken effect since 2019.

“Through the supervisory function, we always monitor the implementation of all economic instruments we have, so that their implementation is more effective,” he affirmed.

He expressed hope that for intensifying both nations’ relations, people-to-people relations between Indonesia and Chile could be bolstered, one of which is through the tourism sector.

He noted that Indonesia currently has five super-priority tourist destinations, namely Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur Temple in Central Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Likupang in North Sulawesi.

“I hope that more tourists from Chile will visit these places because they will not only be able to experience the beauty of these super-priority destinations but can also learn about the diversity of Indonesian culture from our society,” he remarked.

On the other hand, the BKSAP deputy head also expressed optimism that more number of Indonesian people would visit Chile, as the country has various tourist attractions.

He is upbeat that the development of cooperation between Indonesia and Chile would be built by bolstering inter-parliamentary relations through international forums as well as by strengthening ties in the socio-cultural sector.

Rudana held a bilateral meeting with the Chilean parliament in Chile on Wednesday (October 25). The BKSAP’s diplomatic visit to Chile was carried out as an effort to establish inter-parliamentary cooperation.
