JAKARTA – The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) arrested three Indonesian citizens (WNI) who sold cosmetic and beauty products without the approval of the Malaysian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) (KKM).
The raids were carried out around Setapak, Kuala Lumpur and around Ampang, Selangor in a special operation on Thursday, April 25, around 11.15 WIB.
Director General of the Malaysian Department of Immigration Ruslin Jusoh in a statement today was confiscated from Antara, saying that this operation was based on intelligence results during three weeks of reconnaissance.
As a result, he continued, a female Indonesian citizen aged about 50 years was suspected of being the main mastermind behind the cosmetic and beauty product sales syndicate.

One female Indonesian citizen has a valid Social Visit Pass (PLS), while the other woman does not have a valid travel document or passport to be in the country. Meanwhile, Indonesian male citizens have exceeded their stay in Malaysia.
The special operation team, said Ruslin, confiscated cosmetics and beauty products of various brands, two Indonesian passports, in cash amounting to 3,263 Malaysian ringgit (RM) or around Rp. 11 million and Rp. 3,271 million.
According to him, the syndicate’s modus operandi is to bring in cosmetic and beauty products illegally to be sold to customers online through agents at a price of RM159 (around Rp. 537 thousand) per product.
The syndicate uses social media platforms to promote cosmetic and beauty products and is believed to have been operating for six months.
All Indonesian citizens were detained for allegedly making mistakes under the Immigration Act 1959/63, the 1966 Passport Law and the 1963 Immigration Regulations and detained at the Semenyih Immigration Depot.
The KKM, according to him, will also conduct an investigation into the arrested Indonesian citizen because he is suspected of having made a mistake under the 1984 Drug and Cosmetics Supervision Regulation.
Meanwhile, he said a man Malaysian citizen was given a notification to attend the immigration office to assist the investigation.
He said JIM would cooperate with various law enforcement agencies and firm action would be imposed on any party found to have made a mistake under the Immigration Act 1959/63, the 1966 Passport Law, the 1963 Immigration Regulations and the Anti-Trafficking Law on Persons and the 2007 Migrant Smuggling (ATIPSOM).
